White Paper

This project is a research-driven white paper exploring how constant digital distractions impact creativity, productivity, and burnout within the graphic design industry. I developed both the written content and the full visual design of the publication. The goal was not only to communicate complex research clearly, but also to create a reading experience that reflects the principles discussed, focus, clarity, and sustained attention. Every design decision was made to support a distraction-free, structured experience for the reader.
Research
I began with extensive research into productivity, cognitive science, and creative workflows, gathering insights on multitasking, interruption recovery, and burnout in the design industry. From there, I structured the content into a clear narrative that moves from problem to solution, incorporating case studies and practical strategies to make the research more applicable.
Ideation & Sketches
I designed the layout system for the paper. Because the content is dense, I focused on creating a strong typographic hierarchy to guide the reader through each section. I developed a consistent grid system to maintain alignment and balance across pages, ensuring a smooth and predictable reading experience. Spacing and pacing were carefully considered to prevent visual overload and to support sustained attention.
Digital Design & Iteration
The visual design of the white paper was intentionally minimal and structured to reinforce its message. I used clear heading levels, consistent body text styling, and strategic use of white space to create hierarchy and improve readability. This allowed readers to easily scan the document or engage with it more deeply, depending on their needs.
To support the research and enhance clarity, I created all of the vector graphics, charts, and data visualizations used throughout the paper. These elements were designed to simplify complex information, highlight key insights, and create visual entry points into the content. I also incorporated pull quotes to break up longer sections of text and reinforce important ideas. Together, these elements help guide the reader while maintaining a clean, distraction-free layout that aligns with the paper’s core message.
Final Product
The final result is a cohesive, long-form publication that balances research and design. It communicates complex information in a clear, accessible way while using layout, typography, and custom visuals to enhance the reading experience. This project strengthened my ability to design editorial systems, create data-driven visuals, and translate dense content into a visually engaging format.
Outcome
This project influenced how I think about both design and productivity. It reinforced the importance of intentional structure, not just in layouts, but in creative workflows. Designing the paper required the same principles it promotes: focus, clarity, and discipline. By aligning the content with the visual experience, I was able to create a piece that is both informative and conceptually cohesive.
